What is the difference between a mutual fund and a hedge fund?
A mutual fund utilizes traditional strategies to generate profits. Mutual fund managers are paid a
quarterly fee for the ongoing management of assets.
A hedge fund uses much more contrarian strategies to bet against mass movements in the markets.. Hedge
fund managers share in the net-yearly profits, in addition to the quarterly fee that they are paid for the
ongoing management of assets, because it is believed that the management of a hedge fund requires more skill
than traditional investing.
The SEC has set minimum requirements for investing in hedge funds. Hedge funds are known to generate
significant profits when markets are declining, as well as when they are rising. Market data shows that
hedge funds on average have significantly outperformed mutual funds on a yearly basis.
Does GeaSphere LLC manage a mutual fund?
GeaSphere LLC does not manage a mutual fund. We manage individual portfolios, similar
to a mutual fund, with one important distinction. Clients of GeaSphere LLC hold
individual positions in their accounts instead of comingling positions like mutuals funds. This distinction
offers tax advantages to our clients.
Does GeaSphere LLC manage a hedge fund?
GeaSphere LLC does not provide hedge funds for our clients, however Eduard Hamamjian, Managing Director of GeaSphere LLC manages the Golden Globe Opportunity Fund L.P., which is a long/short, sector rotation hedge fund offered by EH Advisors LLC.
